Very Busy

El Jadida is a beautiful city on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.  It is about 45 minutes south of Casablanca. My hotel is located on the beach.  Check out the picture above.  Our very generous host, Mifdal, took us on a tour of the city.

Large fishing boats nestled together in the docking area.

Fishing boats in dry dock.

Boats anchored in the harbor.

The famous Portuguese Cistern.

A beautiful portal in the Portuguese Quarter.

A tower in the Portuguese Quarter. This is the only Catholic church in El Jadida.  It is currently being renovated.

  8. Your landscapes are very interesting! Have you seen atlas mountains? Supposedly they go through 1,500 miles of Morocco! Also I was also wondering when Morocco gained their independence and from whom?

  9. I'll try to answer some of your questions. I think finding out the composition of materials used to make the cistern would be a good research question.

The fishing boats do look a confusing mess. They are docked so close together that the last fishermen in harbor can walk from boat to boat to get to the dock. The boats are painted in bright colors of red, green and blue. They do look very well cared for, up close.

My hotel was right on the beach. It was lovely. Everyday the boys came to the beach to play soccer. One Saturday, I counted 23 organized soccer games. They mark out the field in the sand, use book bags or rocks to mark the goals and play all day. It's very cool!
